Addressing the Gender Gap in AI and Cybersecurity in Denmark
Denmark currently lacks a systematic and coordinated effort to address the underrepresentation of women in AI and cybersecurity. This gap makes it essential to build an inclusive ecosystem that fosters equal opportunities. Without diverse perspectives, innovation and sustainable growth are hindered, and the ability to develop holistic, future-proof solutions is compromised.
The proportion of women in IT education and the tech workforce remains low, with limited progress in recent years. At the same time, the number of female entrepreneurs is declining, highlighting an urgent need to strengthen diversity and inclusion across the sector.
The motivation for initiating this project stems from the significant untapped potential to increase women’s participation in AI and cybersecurity — two fields that are critical to the future of technological development and innovation.
Despite overall growth in the tech sector, women remain underrepresented, particularly in key areas such as AI and cybersecurity.
This initiative is driven by the ambition to build a sustainable ecosystem that combines data, industry experience, and innovative approaches - including mentorship programs, accelerator tracks, networking opportunities, and events - all aimed at strengthening Denmark’s global competitiveness in AI and cybersecurity.
Our vision is to establish a strong and inclusive ecosystem that not only promotes diversity and empowers women in AI and cybersecurity, but also enhances the global competitiveness of Danish industry.
By expanding the talent pool and accelerating innovation, we aim to position Denmark as a leading nation in AI and cybersecurity.
Through targeted mentorship and accelerator programs, networking events, industry meetups, and a strategic communications approach, we are building a pipeline of talented women, improving access to capital and networks, and driving sustainable growth within the AI and cybersecurity sectors.
